Some MPGs may require certain client software and they will need to pay a fee to have this software installed on their computer. However, all of them will have certain minimum requirements that must be met for the game to be able to be played on the computer. Before downloading or playing any multiplayer game, you will need to ensure that the game can be used on the type of platform you have (for example, Windows, Mac or Linux). Many games have been designed so that you can use them on different platforms, but you will need to ensure that you download the version that has been designed for use in the type of platform on your computer.Console-based Games and Multiplayer GamingMany console-based games are also now available as multiplayer games through an internet or LAN connection. Playstation 2, Xbox and GameCube all now are able to be played online, meaning that they can be played as multiplayer versions. In order to play console games through an internet connection, you may need a starter kit. This kit may include a headset, a subscription, a network adaptor and cable. Some consoles already have the necessary equipment to link it up to the internet. Connecting to Xbox live will generally require a fee to be paid.
